Among all medicinal plants, calendula is one you can definitely rely on. Moreover, there are so many benefits of calendula cream that we can count on it in many situations.
Despite all the cosmetic and medicinal products for skin and face that promise to deliver results, calendula cream is the cheapest alternative, yet at the same time, the most effective.
Primarily, calendula cream is recommended when dealing with sensitive skin exposed to irritations, bruises, burns, and even open wounds. You might be wondering what makes this seemingly simple product so good for everything. Well, calendula is found in calendula cream.
Calendula is responsible for stimulating blood circulation in the tissues, which plays a very important role in the growth of new capillaries. The capillaries, in turn, are responsible for regenerating tissues affected by open wounds, injuries, and sunburns.
It has anti-inflammatory, healing, and bactericidal properties. It acts as a natural filter against ultraviolet rays, protecting the skin from sunburns and alleviating existing ones.
Calendula extract stimulates cellular metabolism, prevents the formation of free radicals, and protects cells from premature destruction. Beeswax contains many saturated fatty acids, macromolecular monohydric alcohols, saturated glucides, carotenoids, vitamin A, antibiotics, and other bactericidal substances. It nourishes and protects the skin, enhances the barrier functions of the skin, and has emollient and moisturizing effects. Vitamin E is an extraordinary cosmetic component, being an active antioxidant. It protects epidermal lipids and collagen fibers from oxidation and destruction, thus maintaining skin elasticity. It protects against premature aging, which is caused by the harmful effects of environmental factors. Emollient and moisturizing qualities on the skin also include allantoin, which accelerates the healing process of wounds and regenerates epidermal cells.
Calendula cream is an effective remedy in the treatment of skin conditions, bruises, trauma, burns, and frostbite. It minimizes the healing time of bruises and dermatitis, and reduces pain. The cream is perfect for treating varicose veins, as it strengthens blood vessels and alleviates pain, improving capillary circulation. It is also useful for digestive disorders: it normalizes intestinal function, prevents constipation, alleviates pain, combats spasms, and has a beneficial effect on liver and bile function. The cream soothes pain during difficult menstrual periods. Due to its moisturizing effect, calendula cream is the ideal product for dry and sensitive skin. It has vitaminizing qualities, stimulates regeneration processes, and maintains skin elasticity.
Adolescents with problematic and sensitive skin can use calendula cream as a day cream, as it has anti-inflammatory and soothing effects. Calendula cream is effective for baby hygiene, relieving itching and skin irritations.
Areas of application:
– Trauma, bruises, hematomas: apply the cream immediately to the traumatized area.
– Hydration of dry and sensitive skin: apply as needed.
– Regeneration (healing) of the epidermis after burns/frostbite: apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area.
– Painful menstruation: apply cream to the abdominal area 2-3 days before menstruation.
– Digestive disorders: apply cream to the hypogastric region.
– Varicose veins: apply cream regularly to problematic areas.
To prepare calendula cream at home, you only need three ingredients, which are not hard to find:
Ingredients:
– Calendula petals
– Beeswax
– Oil (olive oil is recommended for a fine texture)
Preparation method:
The calendula petals need to dry. Therefore, leave them in a dry place, preferably in the sun, for 1-2 days. Once the petals are dry, place them in a jar and pour olive oil over them. Pour enough oil to completely cover the petals.
Now, you need to leave this jar in a sunny place for 3-4 days. After 3-4 days, strain the oil using either a cheesecloth or a strainer. Choose a clean container to pour 40 ml of the freshly strained calendula oil. Over this, add 10 g of beeswax. Now, take a pot of water, heat it, and place the container with the calendula cream mixture in it. Stir continuously until the mixture is homogeneous.
Pour the resulting cream into jars or small containers and store them in the refrigerator or any other cool place to speed up the solidification.
