Corns are fluid accumulations between the upper layer of the skin and the deeper layer due to friction between bones or hard materials and soft tissues. They are not just a symptom but a defense mechanism of the body, protecting the affected tissue for healing.
They most commonly appear in the heel area or on the toes, with footwear being the main culprit.
Corns and calluses also develop due to friction between the foot and shoes. Both areas of hardened skin serve the same purpose of protecting the affected tissue.
Ice Cubes
The simplest remedy for relief from corns caused by shoes is the application of ice cubes. It provides instant pain relief and reduces swelling. Place a few cubes in a clean cloth and gently massage the affected areas.
Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is known for its healing properties and may be the remedy you are looking for. Apply the gel from the inside of the aloe leaves to the painful area. Prolonged use will help reduce the scars that corns can leave behind.
Aspirin
The anti-inflammatory action of aspirin can help with this issue. Make a paste from one aspirin tablet and apply it to the affected area. When it dries, wash it off with warm water.
Olive Oil and Almond Oil
A mixture of olive oil and almond oil can be useful in treating corns caused by shoes. Massaging these areas can provide instant relief.
Honey
Honey is used to treat numerous skin problems and can also be effective in treating corns caused by shoes. Apply raw honey for immediate relief.
Baking Soda
Baking soda (3-4 tablespoons) diluted in a basin of water can soften the corn. Soak your feet in the water for about 30 minutes. Then make a paste from baking soda and a little water and apply it. Leave it on overnight.
Vinegar
For maximum effectiveness, it is best to apply a cotton pad soaked in vinegar to the corn in the evening before bed, secured with a bandage.
Chamomile Tea
Soaking your feet in diluted chamomile tea helps to soothe and temporarily changes the skin’s pH, aiding in the drying of the corn.
The tea may stain your foot, but it can be easily removed with soap and water.
Rice Flour
The exfoliating solution with rice flour helps to remove the marks left by corns caused by shoes.
Mix two tablespoons of rice flour with enough water to form a thick paste. Apply the paste to the affected area and let it dry for 15 minutes. Then wash it off with warm water. Repeat the process several times a week until the marks disappear.
Lemon Juice
Make a paste from one tablespoon of lemon juice and 5-6 crushed aspirin tablets. Apply the paste directly to the corn and wrap your foot in a plastic bag. Keep your foot wrapped for 10 minutes, after which you should remove the corn using a pumice stone.
