According to a study, researchers concluded that there are foods whose regular consumption causes dangerous changes in the blood in less than a month.
The Most Dangerous Foods for the Blood
According to researchers from the University of Oxford, a new study shows that various pastries, cookies, or other foods high in saturated fats can increase the risk of developing heart and vascular diseases. To achieve this negative effect, it is sufficient to consume just one portion a day.
Moreover, highly processed foods rich in saturated fats have shown a clear deterioration in key health indicators and have presented changes in the blood.
Dangerous Foods for Health
In general, these are associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular and metabolic problems. In this way, total cholesterol and LDL levels have increased (on average by 10%), while the percentage of fat in the liver has risen. Those who consume polyunsaturated fats, on the other hand, have shown a 10% reduction in total cholesterol and LDL levels.
Lead researcher Nikola Srnik noted that the type of fat consumed is more important for heart health than the amount of fat consumed.
But the most important finding is how quickly dangerous changes occur, he emphasized, adding that three weeks are sometimes enough to increase the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases even without the appearance of excess weight.
Regarding the consumption of desserts based on sweet pastries, the impact is not only harmful to the heart but also poses an increased risk of developing the following diseases and conditions:
- Diabetes: This condition develops in response to stress on the pancreas. When indulging in sweets, this organ produces an insufficient amount of insulin, resulting in poor glucose absorption in the body. The development of diabetes leads to many complications, such as hypoglycemia, diabetic foot syndrome, and hypoglycemic coma.
- Obesity: The main issue with sweets is that with excessive consumption, the body loses its balance and obesity occurs.
- Deterioration of Skin Condition: Under the influence of sugar, intestinal microflora is disrupted, leading to skin eruptions on the face and the appearance of blackheads. Additionally, it has been shown that sweets accelerate the aging process and contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles.
- Deterioration of Mental Abilities: Consuming small amounts of sweets stimulates mental activity, but in excess, the opposite reaction is observed, namely deterioration of memory, attention, and intellectual capacities.
