Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is one of the most valuable medicinal plants for the health of the digestive tract. With a long history of use in phytotherapy, this plant acts gently but effectively on the stomach, liver, and intestines, helping to reduce inflammation, regulate digestive secretions, and soothe spasms.


Benefits for the Digestive System

1. Stimulates gastric and bile secretions

Yarrow contains flavonoids, sesquiterpene lactones, and volatile oils (such as azulene), which stimulate gastric and bile secretions, improving digestion, especially after rich meals or in cases of dyspepsia.

2. Alleviates bloating and abdominal cramps

Due to its antispasmodic effect, yarrow infusion is effective in calming colic, flatulence, and stomach pain associated with irritable bowel syndrome.

3. Helps in cases of gastritis or hyperacidity

Preparation and Administration:

Simple Infusion:

  • 250 ml boiling water

Tincture:
