BEETROOT DETOX: The Perfect Ally for Detoxifying the Body – Dr. Cătălin Luca

Beetroot is one of the natural remedies of the cold season. Most people prepare it as a salad or consume it as juice.

With beetroot salad, you can perform an excellent detoxification of the body.

This preparation, says Dr. Cătălin Luca, cleanses the body of toxins and eliminates them through urine and perspiration.

Beetroot, a Superfood

The root of this plant presents a complex of nutrients. It contains vitamin C, the entire group of B vitamins, potassium, magnesium, iron, sulfur, calcium, iodine, phosphorus, copper, zinc, manganese, and antioxidants.

Among the bioactive compounds are betalains (betacyanin, betaxanthin), flavonoids, polyphenols, saponins, and inorganic nitrates.

Beetroot is at the top of foods with the highest antioxidant power. It protects the body at the cellular level and reduces systemic inflammation.

It helps lower blood pressure, prevents diabetes, has hepatoprotective effects, and combats cancer.

Raw Beetroot Salad Recipe

There are several recipes for beetroot salad that you can try.

The healthiest is raw beetroot salad. Boiling destroys many nutrients.

If you want a simple version, try grated beetroot salad with a little olive oil and lemon juice.

To achieve an even greater therapeutic effect and a more pleasant taste, you can make a beetroot salad with other root vegetables. In cases of high blood pressure, add parsley root, celery, and horseradish.

You can also use carrots, celery, bell peppers, or red cabbage.

If your health does not allow you to eat raw vegetables, boil the beetroot and grate it. Mix it with a little olive oil, lemon juice, and honey.

How to Consume Beetroot and How Long to Detox

Raw beetroot is a functional food, meaning therapeutic. It has powerful effects. Do not consume it in large doses.

It is recommended to consume 100-150 grams of beetroot salad per day. The detox period can last between 2 weeks and 2 months.

During the detox period, it is important to have medical tests and monitor your general health status, especially blood pressure values.
