The Kefir and Flaxseed Detox Cure: The Perfect Combination for Colon Cleansing

You have surely heard about the benefits of consuming kefir! Many people have started using this remedy in the morning to improve digestion.

Equally popular is the kefir and flaxseed cure. The combination of these two foods stimulates intestinal transit. At the same time, it can prevent problems that arise from the accumulation of toxins in the colon.

How to Prepare the Kefir and Flaxseed Cure for Digestion and Colon Health

It is recommended to use ground flaxseeds, as whole seeds cannot be digested well and are not assimilated by the body. Ground flaxseed will have a higher absorption rate.

To obtain a fine flaxseed powder, grind the seeds using an electric coffee grinder.

The kefir and flaxseed cure lasts for 3 weeks and follows this scheme:

Week I

Mix 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed with 1 cup of kefir. The preparation is consumed at breakfast, which can be as early as you like.

This amount will be used daily for 1 week.

Week II

Starting from the second week, the dose of flaxseed will be doubled. Thus, you will use 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed with 1 cup of kefir.

Consume this preparation every morning for 7 days.

Week III

In the last week, triple the amount of flaxseed. Consume 1 cup of kefir every morning, to which you have added 3 tablespoons of flaxseed.

If you notice an improvement in digestion after this cure, you can repeat it as needed, after a 3-month break.
It is essential to increase fluid intake during the kefir and flaxseed cure. A minimum of 2 liters of water per day is recommended.

Benefits of Colon Detoxification

The health of the colon depends on the well-being of the entire body. The colon contains bacteria that break down food waste and help eliminate it.

Proponents of colon detoxification diets argue that regular cleansing of the large intestine can bring certain benefits:

    • Improvement of intestinal function
    • Restoration of the digestive system
    • Relief or prevention of constipation/diarrhea
    • Regulation of intestinal transit
    • Increased nutrient absorption
    • Weight loss
    • Boosted immunity
    • Increased energy levels
    • Prevention of headaches

Benefits of Kefir and Flaxseeds

Kefir is a fermented dairy product, very rich in probiotics (good bacteria). It is a valuable source of proteins, amino acids, minerals, and B vitamins.

A study published in the journal Nutrition Research Reviews showed that kefir contains dozens of major strains of bacteria.

It is important to know that kefir contains more probiotics than yogurt and also has beneficial yeasts.

Kefir contains a unique strain of bacteria called Lactobacillus kefiri. This probiotic has been associated in studies with additional protection against gastrointestinal infections and increased immunity.

The good bacteria and yeasts in kefir help heal the intestines and improve gut flora. Additionally, they contribute to the destruction of harmful bacteria and parasites, such as E. coli.

If we add flaxseeds to kefir, the detoxifying effect will be even greater.

When they reach the colon, ground flaxseeds absorb water and increase in volume. Thus, they help eliminate stool and also toxins.

Flaxseeds contain large amounts of alpha-linolenic acid, a type of Omega-3 that combats inflammation and can alleviate symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.

Some studies suggest that flaxseeds may even prevent colon cancer due to their lignan content.

Conditions Benefited by the Kefir and Flaxseed Cure

The kefir and flaxseed recipe can be used as an adjunct in various gastrointestinal disorders, and not only:

    • Gastritis
    • Gastric ulcer
    • Colitis
    • High triglycerides
    • Obesity
    • Respiratory tract inflammation
    • Urinary infections

Tip:

Do not grind flaxseeds in large quantities, as the powder will oxidize within 24 hours and lose its properties. Grind only as much as you will consume at one time.
