Who was Cristian Ionescu
Born in the commune of Poiana, Constanța County, Cristian Ionescu was part of the first generation of professional Aromanian performers in Romania, alongside Chița Caraulani, Hrista Lupci, Nelu Ianca, Sirma Granzulea, and Zoe Gica.
The highlight of his career remains undoubtedly “La mușata armână” (The Beautiful Aromanian), the title of the album released by the Electrecord label in 1984.
His career continued even after 1989, with albums such as “Dipârtarea” (in collaboration with Nelu Ianca, 1992) and “Haide, Gioni Armâni!” (with Nelu Scupra, 1997).
