Effective Natural Laxative: How to Prepare the Flaxseed Mixture

Flax is a plant cultivated since ancient times by Egyptians, Greeks, Indians, and others. Flax fiber was discovered in 2,000-year-old tombs in Babylonia.

Flaxseeds are used in popular natural medicine for many ailments, ranging from constipation, ulcers, gastritis, and hemorrhoids, to urinary tract inflammation and lithiasis.

Flaxseed Laxative Recipe

The simplest way to consume flaxseeds for treating constipation is to grind them using a coffee grinder and take them with water or yogurt, about 1-3 tablespoons per day, preferably in the evening before bedtime. For good results, drink plenty of water after consuming the seeds. For a stronger laxative effect with good long-term results, you can try the recipe below, which also includes another very good laxative for those who have transit issues.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon of flaxseeds
1-2 tablespoons of chia seeds (or wheat or oat)
1 glass of water

Preparation

Put the flaxseeds in water and add the chia seeds. Let everything soak overnight (8 hours), and in the morning strain and drink the preparation on an empty stomach. This remedy is also good for weight loss.

Another way to consume flaxseeds for relieving constipation is to soak one tablespoon of seeds in 100 ml of water overnight. In the morning, strain the liquid and drink it. It is recommended to take 3-4 such doses per day. Alternatively, you can prepare a delicious breakfast with yogurt, ground flaxseeds, oatmeal, raisins or dried plums, and honey. For a stronger laxative effect, you can also add a little castor oil.

Contraindications

Due to the mucilage with laxative effects, flaxseeds should not be used concurrently with other laxative or purgative medications. It is also recommended to avoid consuming flaxseeds during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or for individuals with prostate cancer.

It is best to consume flaxseeds only when ground. Whole seeds can affect individuals suffering from digestive obstructions or bleeding.
