How to Use Olive Oil to Reduce Stretch Marks: 5 Easy Application Methods

Stretch marks are thin purple or silver lines that can develop for various reasons, such as weight gain or pregnancy. They are commonly observed on thighs, hips, buttocks, or abdomen. Stretch marks fade over time, but you can use natural remedies to reduce their appearance. While many studies do not support the use of olive oil for stretch marks, some people believe that using it is one of the best ways to reduce them.
How to Use Olive Oil for Stretch Marks
Note: When using olive oil, make sure to use cold-pressed or extra virgin olive oil.
1. Olive Oil and Shea Butter
Shea butter is widely used in skin care products and cosmetics, especially in moisturizing creams. Any cream that contains shea butter has the same effect on the skin as products that contain ceramides.
You will need:
1 tablespoon of raw shea butter
1 tablespoon of cold-pressed olive oil
Method:
Mix the shea butter and olive oil.
Massage the mixture onto the stretch marks.
Leave it on overnight.
Repeat daily.
2. Olive Oil and Coffee Grounds
There is no evidence that scrubbing can reduce stretch marks. However, using coffee grounds for scrubbing can help remove dead skin cells and keep the area soft.
You will need:
1 tablespoon of coffee grounds
1-2 tablespoons of cold-pressed olive oil
Method:
Mix the coffee grounds and olive oil.
Scrub the stretch marks with this mixture for 5 minutes.
Leave it on for another 5 minutes.
Rinse and apply a moisturizer.
You can also use it as a body exfoliant.
Repeat three times a week.
3. Olive Oil and Coconut Oil
Coconut oil prevents trans-epidermal water loss to keep the skin hydrated. It also protects the skin from sun or UV damage.
You will need:
1 tablespoon of cold-pressed coconut oil
1 tablespoon of cold-pressed olive oil
Method:
Melt the coconut oil.
Mix the two oils together.
Massage the oil mixture onto the stretch marks.
Leave it on overnight.
Repeat daily.
Warning: Do not use this remedy if you have frequent breakouts on your face or body.
4. Olive Oil and Turmeric
Turmeric may not have any direct effect on stretch marks, but it has therapeutic benefits for the skin and keeps it healthy.
You will need:
1 tablespoon of turmeric powder
1 tablespoon of cold-pressed olive oil
Method:
Mix the turmeric and olive oil.
Massage the mixture onto the stretch marks.
Leave it on for at least half an hour.
Rinse and apply a moisturizer.
Repeat daily.
5. Olive Oil and Aloe Vera
Aloe vera contains mucopolysaccharides that help bind moisture to the skin. It also promotes the development of collagen and elastin fibers. This can help reduce stretch marks.
You will need:
1-2 tablespoons of fresh aloe vera pulp
1 tablespoon of cold-pressed olive oil
Method:
Mix the aloe vera pulp and olive oil well in a bowl.
Massage the mixture onto the stretch marks.
Leave it on for 20-30 minutes.
Rinse and apply a moisturizer.
Repeat daily.
