Onion and walnut tea is a very effective natural remedy for cough, cold, and sore throat. Onion has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, while walnuts contain essential nutrients that help soothe throat irritations.
Recipe for Onion and Walnut Tea
Ingredients:
- 1 large onion (white or red)
- 4-5 whole walnuts (with shell)
- 500 ml water
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional, after cooling)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for taste)
Preparation Method:
- Preparing the Ingredients
- Wash the onion and walnuts well (keeping their shells).
- Cut the onion into quarters without peeling it.
- Gently crush the walnuts with their shells (without breaking them completely).
- Brewing the Tea
- Place the onion and walnuts in a pot or saucepan.
- Add 500 ml of water and let it simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes.
- After boiling, let the tea steep for another 5 minutes.
- Straining and Sweetening
- Strain the liquid into a cup.
- After it has cooled slightly (below 40°C), add honey and lemon juice (if desired).
Dosage:
- Drink 2-3 cups a day, preferably warm, but not hot.
- It is especially recommended in the evening, before bedtime, to soothe nighttime cough.
This tea is effective for both dry and productive coughs, helping to eliminate mucus and soothe throat irritation.
