The Miracle Syrup Made from Dandelions: An Elixir with Healing Powers

Father Dumitru from Râmnicu Vâlcea calls the dandelion syrup the golden syrup of the body.

The dandelion syrup is the golden syrup because it does so much good that no pharmacy could match it.

The former monk from Slănic urges us to take advantage of the short season of dandelion flowers as soon as possible.

These cannot be dried and stored for winter, as they turn into fluff. The syrup is the best way to preserve them.

How to Make Dandelion Syrup

Dandelion flowers should not be washed, as you will lose the pollen and volatile oils from them. Additionally, syrups should not contain water; they are made only from dried flowers.

They should be picked from a clean area, away from traffic. Shake them well and let them sit on a paper for a few minutes to allow insects to escape.

Then, place them in a large glass jar in alternating layers with honey. Put a layer of flowers, a layer of honey, until the jar is full. The last layer in the jar should be honey. Put the lid on and seal it. The honey should be fluid; warm it slightly if it is crystallized.

Let it macerate for a month. It should be shaken (turned) once a day. Position the jar in a sunny place so that the sun warms the honey and helps the flowers release their bioactive substances. After a month, strain the syrup and store it in glass bottles in the refrigerator or another cool place.

Only syrup made with honey and prepared cold is a therapeutic syrup

Father Dumitru emphasizes that syrups in general should be made with honey, not with sugar.

Those that contain sugar are no longer medicinal syrups, but food syrups. And if you boil them for half a day to reduce and thicken, you risk obtaining a toxic syrup, says Father Dumitru.

What Conditions Does the Golden Syrup Help With?

Dandelion has various effects. It positively influences the function of several organs in the body: the stomach, liver, and pancreas. It has excellent purifying properties.

Dandelion syrup can be consumed throughout the year. It helps with liver and bile conditions, gastritis, ulcers, fatty liver, thick blood, and varicose veins. It regulates metabolism, accelerates digestion, and aids in weight loss.

This Spring, a Cleanse with Nettle and Dandelion Cleanses the Blood and Detoxifies the Entire Body

Father Dumitru recommends dandelion syrup for people with high cholesterol and varicose veins. These occur due to thick blood, which predisposes to the formation of blood clots in the veins.

Nettle and dandelion are the best plants for cleansing and purifying the blood. You can make nettle tea and sweeten it with dandelion syrup. Consume it on an empty stomach, diluted with water or concentrated juice, taking a sip three times a day. It can also be given to children from 3 years old and up.
