CLEANING THE COLON in the most NATURAL and EFFECTIVE way

The human body is an amazing machinery. God has equipped the human body with an innate intelligence that surpasses scientific and medical domains.

The body works 24 hours a day to protect us, to heal us, to repair us, says Luke Coutinho, an expert and coach in holistic medicine. Nothing should interfere with this natural intelligence of the body.

Connecting to the body’s natural intelligence

Today’s person no longer knows how to connect to this innate intelligence. They seek solutions outside of themselves. They have become so comfortable regarding their health that they rely solely on miracle pills and supplements.

Instead of taking care of their own body through what they eat and how they live, they prefer to take all sorts of medications.

Everyone talks today about prebiotics and probiotics, about colon cleansing with various supplements and procedures.
Just 10-20 years ago, when there was hardly any mention of prebiotics or probiotics.
In the past, people led a healthier lifestyle and did not need medications or diets.

Probiotics play an important role in colon health, and we need them today because our lifestyle has changed. Our diet has changed.

We eat a lot of unhealthy food. We eat too much and too often. We ingest a large amount of pollutants, toxins, and chemicals. We exercise too little. All these factors disturb the intestines.

The colon cleans itself if we let it

There is a very simple thing we can do to improve our colon health. This organ has the ability to clean itself automatically. It is also capable of healing itself.

Luke says that we all have the power to activate an automatic mechanism in the body that keeps our colon clean and healthy.

We can imagine that within the body there is a kind of cleaning crew that takes care of the intestines.

This crew aids digestion, cleans toxic particles and food waste, and takes care of eliminating them from the body. All these things happen automatically, in the most natural way, if we allow them to.

Frequent snacking interrupts the cleaning mechanisms

Unfortunately, many of us do not give the intestines the necessary rest to clean and heal. We hinder this by not having a long enough food break.

Some eat every 1-2 hours, while others snack all the time. It is very important to take breaks between meals to allow the cleaning crew to do its job.

Breaks of 4-5 hours between meals are mandatory

Luke recommends maintaining a break of 4 to 5 hours between meals. After about 3-4 hours of food rest, the body’s natural cleaning mechanism for the intestines is automatically activated.

This mechanism is called MMC (migrating motor complex). In loose translation, it means a cyclic, recurrent motility pattern that occurs in the stomach and small intestine during fasting (food rest). This mechanism is interrupted by eating.

MMC can be seen as a cleaning and maintenance service for the intestines. After the food has been digested and the body has absorbed the nutrients from it, the workers of this service begin to clean the food residues and bacteria from the stomach and small intestine.

We were not created to eat all the time

Normally, we should have a maximum of 3 meals a day. If we have breakfast at 8, lunch should be around 1:00 PM, and dinner around 6:00 PM.

This spacing between meals gives the intestines the necessary break to activate that migrating motor complex that takes care of cleanliness in the colon.

Unfortunately, today’s person has a lot of snacking throughout the day. Along with the main meals, they have the habit of constantly nibbling on something, thus not allowing even a 2-hour break between meals.
We have compromised the intelligence of our own body. We were not created to eat all the time.
As soon as we finish a meal, we immediately start snacking on something, drinking something. We drink a fruit juice, eat a handful of almonds, or a protein bar.

Because of these snacks and nibbles, our digestive system does not have any break or signal to activate that cleaning crew.

Create a meal schedule with 4-5 hours of breaks between them

Try to maintain 4 to 4.5 hours between meals, without snacks. You will feel lighter in your stomach, and digestion will improve, says Luke. Here is the simplest thing we can do to cleanse our colon.

If you cannot stick to 3 meals a day, try to maintain a distance of at least 4 hours between meals. For example, if breakfast is at 7:00 AM, have the next meal at 11:00 AM or 12:00 PM, then the next meal at 3:00 PM, and the last meal at 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM.

The intestinal cleaning cycle starts every 90 minutes. During the 4-hour break, MMC performs several cleaning cycles.

Anything you introduce into the stomach during that break will interrupt the cleaning process. Whether you have eaten just 2 almonds, a slice of fruit, or a coffee.
If we maintain a gap of 4 to 4.5 hours between our meals, we automatically activate MMC.
When MMC is interrupted by frequent snacking, undigested food waste accumulates in the intestines and gives rise to harmful bacteria. This leads to intestinal overpopulation.

Eating without breaks promotes the accumulation of harmful intestinal bacteria

SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) is a condition that can be alleviated by activating MMC.

People with this condition suffer from bloating, acidity, chronic constipation, or frequent loose stools. Activating MMC helps break down that excessive bacterial growth.

Interruptions or lack of MMC have also been associated with gastroparesis and intestinal pseudo-obstruction.

We should think of these breaks as mini-fasts between meals. During the night, it is mandatory to have at least 12 hours of food break.
Most people who practice this for a week find that their intestinal problems begin to slowly disappear.
If we respect this simple thing, the body does its job on its own, and we no longer need external aids, such as supplements, preparations, or detox drinks.

Only those exposed to radiation, chemotherapy, steroids, antibiotics, pain medications, and other toxic factors need certain preparations for intestinal healing.

For example, if someone is taking strong antibiotics, they may need probiotics, B complex, and vitamin C to restore the good bacteria destroyed by antibiotics.

Precautions and contraindications

Only those who take strong medications or have severe fluctuations in blood sugar may need to eat every 2-3 hours.

This also applies to those who suffer from gastroesophageal reflux disease or have excessive acidity in the stomach.
