Foods That Fight Cancer: What Studies Say from 2023 to 2025

In the context of rising cancer cases worldwide, nutrition remains one of the most powerful allies in prevention and therapeutic support. We are not talking about miracle diets, but about foods with active compounds that have been intensively studied in recent years, which can block the development of cancer cells, reduce chronic inflammation, and stimulate the immune system. Here’s what recent research tells us about the most promising anti-cancer foods.


Broccoli and Sulforaphane: A Barrier Against Cellular Mutations

Cruciferous vegetables, especially broccoli, are rich in glucoraphanin, a compound that transforms into sulforaphane, one of the most studied plant molecules with anti-cancer potential.

Lycopene is a carotenoid antioxidant that gives tomatoes their intense color. In recent years, lycopene has been intensively studied for its effects on hormone-dependent cancers and beyond.

In 2023-2024, researchers developed modern methods for encapsulating lycopene in nanoparticles, thereby increasing its bioavailability by over 70%. This means that the body absorbs the active substance more efficiently, enhancing its effectiveness in neutralizing free radicals.

  • Lycopene, in high doses from supplements, may affect beta-carotene levels and interact with certain liver medications.

Studies from 2023 to 2025 confirm what functional medicine has long advocated: food can be an essential tool in cancer prevention and in supporting conventional therapies. Sulforaphane, curcumin, lycopene, and allicin are just a few of the natural molecules that act on key processes involved in cancer development.
