In just five days, a simple combination of ingredients can work wonders for your body. This involves fresh parsley and green apple juice, a detox regimen increasingly used in modern phytotherapy for cleansing the liver, stimulating the kidneys, and purifying the blood of toxins.
Why Parsley and Green Apple?
Parsley (Petroselinum crispum) is a powerful detoxifier with diuretic and antioxidant properties. It contains apiol, myristicin, flavonoids, vitamin C, and K, which support liver function and the elimination of metabolic waste.
Green apple is rich in pectins, polyphenols, and organic acids that help regulate digestion and improve liver metabolism. Combined with parsley, it supports effective drainage of toxins from the blood and tissues.
Scientifically Proven Benefits
- Liver detoxification – parsley supports liver enzyme function and stimulates bile production, promoting the elimination of toxic substances.
- Reduction of systemic inflammation – flavonoids in parsley reduce inflammatory markers in the blood (CRP, TNF-).
- Reduction of water retention and edema – the diuretic effect helps the kidneys eliminate excess sodium and toxins.
- Lowering blood sugar and protecting the pancreas – according to a study in Journal of Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders (2016), parsley juice can naturally lower blood sugar levels.
- Improvement of cellular oxygenation – by purifying the blood, cells receive more oxygen, increasing vitality and mental clarity.
Studies
1. Protective effects of parsley juice on liver enzymes and lipid profile in rats with induced hepatotoxicity Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2019
This study was conducted on laboratory rats that were induced with liver toxicity using carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), a substance known for its harmful effects on the liver. Animals treated with fresh parsley juice showed:
- a significant decrease in liver enzyme levels ALT and AST, markers of liver inflammation;
- a normalization of the lipid profile, suggesting a protective effect on liver metabolism;
- a increased level of glutathione and superoxide dismutase, essential antioxidant enzymes in the liver detoxification process.
Conclusion: Parsley supports liver recovery and protects liver cells from oxidative stress by stimulating the body’s own antioxidant mechanisms.
2. Apple polyphenols modulate hepatic inflammation and improve antioxidant status in human liver cells Nutrition Research, 2020
The study used human liver cell cultures exposed to inflammatory stress. Researchers administered extracts from green apple (rich in polyphenols) and observed:
- a significant reduction in the expression of inflammatory genes such as TNF- and IL-6;
- a increase in intracellular antioxidant activity, particularly through the activation of the Nrf2 pathway (a cellular protective factor);
- a reduction in fat accumulation in liver cells, which may prevent hepatic steatosis (fatty liver).
Conclusion: Polyphenols from green apple have a clear anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect, supporting the liver in eliminating toxins and preventing harmful accumulations.
3. Parsley extract improves renal function and blood purification in patients with mild nephropathy Iranian Journal of Kidney Diseases, 2021
This clinical study included 60 patients with mild renal insufficiency, who received parsley tea or juice for 21 days. The results showed:
- a visible decrease in serum creatinine and urea levels, indicating improved kidney function;
- a natural diuretic effect, with increased urine volume and faster elimination of waste and toxins;
- participants reported a reduction in bloating and better digestion.
Conclusion: Parsley actively contributes to the elimination of toxins from the blood by supporting the kidneys, which also helps in clearing the blood and indirectly supporting the liver.
Doctors’ Statements
