The mother-in-law visited, and after her departure, the dog started growling and digging in the ground: I began to dig in the spot where he was barking and found something horrifying 😱😱
My husband and I live in a quiet village. He works on the farm, and I take care of the garden and household. My mother-in-law lives in the city with her younger son — and honestly, my relationship with her has never been good. From day one, she didn’t like me. Either a critical glance or stinging remarks. But I swallowed my pride for the sake of my husband. Moreover, the distance helped — we rarely saw each other.
But recently, out of the blue, she said she wanted to “get away from the hustle and bustle of the city” and came to stay with us for a week. She said she missed us. I felt that it wasn’t a good sign, but again — my husband insisted.
From the first days, she started giving me lessons. Nothing was right: the soup was too salty, the curtains were wrinkled, and our five-year-old daughter’s upbringing, in her opinion, was completely wrong. She constantly provoked conflicts, and at one point, she even managed to pit us against each other. I couldn’t take it anymore and cried at night. I just wanted it all to be over quickly.
When she finally left, I breathed a sigh of relief. But the next day, something strange began.
Our dog, Baks — a gentle and extremely intelligent animal — suddenly started behaving oddly. He was growling at an empty area in the garden, running in circles, then began to dig in the ground next to a flower bed, barking and scratching with his paws. I tried to pull him away — he wouldn’t listen. He stared at me and continued.
The next day was the same. I couldn’t take it anymore — I grabbed a shovel. My heart was pounding: a dog doesn’t behave like that for no reason. Something was troubling him. I started to dig in the spot where he was barking.
And then the ground collapsed. I froze. From the earth emerged…
…a black bag. Tied. With a heart racing like a flea, I pulled it out.
Inside — a horrifying smell and strange things: clumps of hair, an old child’s dress (which didn’t belong to our daughter!), a doll with a broken head, and a packet of photographs in which I, my husband, and our daughter appeared… but with scratched-out eyes.
A cold shiver ran through my entire body. I realized it was something related to witchcraft, perhaps a curse. Who could do such a thing?
The only answer was — my mother-in-law. She was the only one who had been in the yard; she could have buried that bag while I was in the kitchen or busy with our daughter.
I didn’t know what to do. I took everything to the church. The priest said it was a “work of family division.”
I don’t believe in such things, but everything that had happened with the dog and my mother-in-law’s behavior in the last few days… all connected into a sinister picture.
From that moment on, I forbade her from stepping foot in our house. I told my husband everything. At first, he didn’t believe me, but when he saw the photos and the bag — which I had kept as evidence — he was silent for a long time.
And the dog, since then, only sleeps by the door, as if guarding us.
I don’t know what my mother-in-law intended, but I am sure of one thing: she will never step foot in our yard again.
What do you think, am I exaggerating? Could it be something else?
