The New Office Employee Was the Target of Mockery

They had everything planned. And then… I couldn’t take it anymore. I left.

— It’s terrible — murmured Iulia. — But I don’t think it will happen to me.

Olga shook her head.

— You don’t know who supports them. Vera’s uncle works here. He is a close friend of the boss. That’s why she thinks she’s above everyone. She does whatever she wants. And you… you are already the chosen victim.

— So what? — Iulia smiled. — We’ll see how we solve this.

But the day ended badly. Someone, taking advantage of her going to the bathroom, poured a sticky substance on her chair. Iulia, unaware, sat down… and only realized it when she tried to get up. She spent the rest of the afternoon frozen, feeling the humiliation burning her skin. Around her, muffled giggles, sidelong glances, suppressed laughter.

She returned home with stained clothes, her head down. But not out of shame, rather out of anger. Did they think they would break her? They were mistaken.

Days passed. The intrigues grew. The keyboard disappeared, then the files. One day she discovered that someone had renamed all her documents with insulting titles. She had to call the technician.

Olga could no longer bear it…

…and one morning, with tired eyes and a faint voice, she told Iulia that she wanted to resign.

— I have no strength left. Every day it gets harder. And this is not a life.

Iulia looked at her for a long time. In Olga’s eyes was fear, but also a kind of resignation. Then she understood: if she wanted to endure, she had to be stronger than all of them.

That evening, returning home, she looked at her sleeping little boy and felt her heart tighten. “I will keep going for you,” she told herself. “For you, I will learn to speak up.”

The next day she came to the office with a different attitude. She was no longer the victim; she was the fighter. And she did not respond to provocations with anger, but with a cold calm that disarmed the others. When Vera tried again to humiliate her, Iulia turned her back without a word, leaving her to shout alone.

But the big plan she devised in silence. She knew everything depended on Vera’s uncle’s influence, so she began documenting every humiliation: photos, messages, modified files, witnesses. Everything. Nothing went unnoticed.

One Sunday, at church, she confessed. The old and wise priest listened to her for a long time and said:
— My daughter, evil feeds on fear. When you no longer fear, evil weakens. Keep your head up and fight with justice on your side.

His words remained in her soul like a shield. She remembered her grandmother, who always taught her not to let anyone trample on her dignity. “Better to break the silence than to break yourself,” the old woman used to say.

Time passed, and the decisive moment arrived at the company’s annual banquet. Everyone was present, and Vera and Inna were preparing to shine, confident they would dominate the evening.

But when Iulia entered, arm in arm with her husband, the room fell silent. He was tall, dignified, impeccably dressed, and his confident gaze said it all: Iulia was not alone. All the giggles, all the mean jokes suddenly faded away.

In the middle of the evening, the director took the floor. Calm and prepared, Iulia raised her hand and asked to speak. With a clear voice, she began to read from her file: evidence, screenshots, stolen documents, witnesses.

The room was stunned. Vera and Inna tried to laugh, but each piece of evidence cut off their voices. When she finished, the director looked at her for a long time, then turned to the two:
— Starting Monday, you have no place in this company.

A murmur passed through the room. The people who had laughed at Iulia until then understood: she was the one who had the courage that no one else had.

The next day, the office was different. Quieter, more humane. Olga came to her with tears in her eyes.
— I don’t even know how to thank you. You did what I couldn’t.

Iulia smiled. She didn’t need grand words. She knew that beyond work, she had gained something much more important: respect.

And, above all, she had regained what she had lost for years — her self-confidence.

One evening, on her way home, looking at the fields stretching at the edge of the city, she remembered her childhood in the countryside. Her father’s scythe shining in the sun, her mother’s cracked hands, her grandmother telling stories by the fireplace. All those roots had given her the strength she had now.

Because no matter how much the world tries to defeat her, a Romanian woman does not let herself be knocked down. She stands up, straightens her back, and moves forward.

And that’s exactly what Iulia did.
