For treating cough, a plantain-based syrup can be made
Plantain syrup is an ancient recipe for various ailments such as cough, hemorrhoids, cystitis, asthma, infections, high blood pressure, abscesses, and boils. Plantain can be administered in various forms, including powder, infusions, compresses, gargles, poultices, tinctures, and syrups.

To prepare plantain syrup, you will need 50 grams of plantain leaves over which you will pour half a liter of boiling water. Let the mixture steep for 10 minutes for infusion, then strain it. To the obtained liquid, add the same amount of polyfloral honey, mix well, and store in dark-colored bottles. It is recommended to consume 2-3 tablespoons a day, 30 minutes before main meals.
For the second preparation method, you will need a bowl full of fresh plantain leaves, 400 grams of brown sugar, 400 grams of polyfloral or linden honey, half a lemon, 150 ml of vodka or another strong spirit with a high concentration (over 40 degrees), or 2 classic uncoated aspirin tablets. Rinse and drain the leaves without drying them, chop them finely, and place them in a pot along with the sugar, lemon juice, and a medium glass of water.
Bring the mixture to a boil without letting it boil over. Reduce the heat to low, stir constantly, and let it simmer for 10 minutes until the sugar completely dissolves. If it hasn’t turned into a fine paste, strain it through a cheesecloth, squeezing as much as possible. Add the honey and alcohol or powdered aspirin. The resulting brown syrup can be bottled and stored in dark, cool places.
