We all have little passions that make us happy

We all have little passions that make us happy and distract us from our daily lives. Some love cooking, creating true wonders in the kitchen, while others enjoy knitting warm sweaters or making homemade sausages. And sometimes, what started as a simple hobby turns into an additional source of income.

Story 1:
I met a man. Our relationship evolved quickly, and he invited me to his home. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, but there was no towel. I opened the cabinet and found a bra.
I picked it up and asked my “boyfriend”: “What is this supposed to mean?” He calmly replied, “Just don’t get it dirty; I need to send it to a client.”
It turns out he made custom bras. At first, I wasn’t convinced, but when he showed me the mannequins and his workshop, I felt a bit embarrassed. I was still disappointed that, in the end, we broke up. But not because of his profession; we just weren’t a match.

Story 2:
My neighbor is 78 years old and lives alone. She is a gentle and quiet woman. I noticed that a young man started visiting her. There would have been nothing suspicious, but every time he came, I heard shouting.
I started to worry, so one day I knocked on the door. Everything was quiet. Suddenly, the door opened, and the old lady appeared wearing a karate gi.
I was amazed! She had decided to try something new at her age, and that young man was showing her various poses and movements.

Story 3:
One day, I was coming home from work on the train, knitting a sweater. That’s how I relax and pass the time on the way. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed the man next to me was staring intently and getting closer.
I thought it was the last thing I needed. But then I saw he was tightly holding a book about knitting. It seemed he was just watching to see how I worked. We ended up talking and getting to know each other. We still keep in touch.

Story 4:
My daughter-in-law called me before my granddaughter turned five. She said, “My daughter wants a scary but cute bat for her birthday. I haven’t found anything like that in stores. Maybe you have an idea.” So I created one.

Story 5:
My whole family loves camping and outdoor activities. Grandma, grandpa, my uncle’s family, mom, dad, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, my sister’s husband, and their daughter.
Every year, we all go camping together. It’s a tradition. A month in the mountains. I love nature, cooking over a fire, the lack of hot water, the insects, or the fact that my backpack weighs more than half my weight.
But every time we have adventures. Bears? Sure. Did the catamaran capsize in fast waters? Yes! Did all the pots and food for ten days fall into the river? Wonderful.
We were flooded, and the tent was almost taken by water overnight? Exactly! Did a tick bite me? Ha! At least it wasn’t a bear! You get the idea — something happens every time.
Every time I come back, I tell myself, “I will never come again!” And when summer comes, I start thinking, “Well, it wasn’t that bad, was it? Maybe this year will be better.” And, of course, I go again.

Story 6:
I knit and read! I try to reread the teenage books from my youth, and for crocheting, I bought $50 worth of yarn in October and still have 80% of it left, so it will last me a long time!

Story 7:
Ten years ago, I wrote a play at the request of a friend, but she no longer needed it, so I entered it into a contest. I won.
Now, my plays are performed in theaters. A new premiere is coming up. However, I don’t make much money from it. I earn much more working in an office.

Story 8:
I tried to combine “productive” beneficial activities in various ways. I enjoy organizing things, learning healthy recipes from traditional kitchens, and doing wellness activities. It’s like turning daily tasks into something enjoyable and useful in my life. It gives me a lot of satisfaction and helps me stay healthy.

Story 9:
When I was a child, I was very good at getting toys out of those claw machines. A few days ago, at the nearby supermarket, they brought in a similar one, and there were many students around spending their pocket money. I was having a sad day and decided to play too.
The result? Me, a 25-year-old woman in a suit and heels, surrounded by a group of kids who were cheering. In two hours, I got all 30 toys out of the machine and shared them with the kids. I have never felt better.

Story 10:
I love to exercise, play disc golf, bowling, video games, do landscaping, and financial planning and investments. I used to play soccer several times a week after work, but my knees don’t allow me to anymore.

Story 11:
My father fished his whole life. I remember the tub full of pike and the smell of fish in the house, plus the scales in the kitchen. Financial problems were resolved, food was no longer lacking, but his passion remained.
My mother forbade him from bringing fish home. He goes fishing, and we don’t care what he does with the catch. But one day, my mother and I went to a restaurant, and the waiter brought us the house specialty: zander. My mother said, “I’m not paying for fish!”

Story 12:
My mother has changed jobs several times. Now she is a librarian in a village and has free time to pursue her passion: painting.
They don’t have much artistic value, but the important thing is that we both like them. For some, this is just a path from the farm. For me, it’s the road I used to take every summer to the lake to swim with friends.

Story 13:
In 2020, I started experimenting with growing strawberries. At first, everything seemed impossible. I didn’t think I would get this far. Strawberries are not easy to grow; they are a demanding crop.
Now I sell them to restaurants and pastry shops in the city. They love how fresh and well-picked they are.

Story 14:
A year ago, I saved a small cereus cactus, abandoned on the windowsill of a colleague who had left. I took it home. The plant was surprised and grew twice in size, in all directions. Now I have my own green Doric column.
Then, I also received a weeping fig that another colleague had neglected. In short, I tried to take care of several plants, and they all miraculously recovered. I don’t do anything special; I just dance around the lemon tree, which smells wonderful when it blooms.

Story 15:
Six years ago, I came across homemade sausage recipes online. And even though I don’t have a smoker or a thermal room, just an oven, that didn’t stop me. This photo is the result of my passion.

Story 16:
My grandmother is 84 years old. Her passion is manicures. Every day she paints her nails and draws designs on them. When I ask her what to bring her from the city, she always replies: “3 bottles of nail polish in different colors, cotton pads, and nail polish remover!”
